About the Opportunity
Glyndebourne is looking for an experienced administrator, with a classical music or theatre background, to support the Director and other members of the Artistic Administration department.
Successful candidates will be educated to degree level, or equivalent, and have previous PA or administration experience. Excellent MS Office skills and fast and accurate typing (80 wpm), are vital. This role requires someone with the ability to prioritise tasks and work with an extremely high level of accuracy and attention to detail. The successful applicant will be part of a busy and dynamic team and strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
The following are the key responsibilities and tasks for this multifaceted role:
- To plan and administer auditions for singers and chorus.
- To administer, negotiate (within pre set limits) and issue contracts for music staff, language coaches, chorus and chorus understudies in liaison with the Director of Artistic Administration.
- To administer and issue contracts for conductors in liaison with the Director of Artistic Administration.
- To administer child licence applications
- To prepare budget forecasts and maintain accurate records of spend against budget for the chorus, conductors, music staff and language coaches.
- To prepare monthly budget reports for the Director of Artistic Administration.
- To carry out other administration in relation to the Glyndebourne chorus.
- To assist with the planning and administration of ad hoc concerts as required.
- To provide secretarial and administrative support as required to the Director of Artistic Administration, Music Director, GOT Music Director and Chorus Master including diary management, booking meetings, minute taking and making travel arrangements.
A strong interest and knowledge of opera and classical music, as well as a working knowledge of French, Italian and German would be highly desirable, but not essential.
Glyndebourne are offering a very competitive, experience related, salary of £22,000 - £26,000 with 5.6 weeks holiday per year and a defined contribution pension scheme after 3 months (on successful completion of probation), employee contribution 5% - employer contribution 5%.
